About Atomstack Studio

AtomStack Studio is software provided by AtomStack for designing, configuring, and controlling laser cutting and engraving devices. It is available on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. The software supports setting material-specific parameters like speed, power, image spacing, processing mode, and allows users to import designs or use templates from a library. It automatically adjusts for attached accessories and provides guided settings for different materials. It is compatible with AtomStack hardware and supports smooth workflows including framing the work area, alignment, zoom or camera-based positioning, and in some machines auto focus. It allows users to control laser origin settings (like current position or user origin) and resume interrupted jobs. In terms of limitations, some precision claims depend heavily on mechanical stability, optics, and calibration of the specific device. Wireless connections (if used) or accessory recognition features may vary in reliability. Performance also depends on material type, thickness, and hardware power. The software is often used with AtomStack’s proprietary apps but also supports integration or compatibility with third-party tools like LightBurn.

FAQ

Is AtomStack Studio software free and what devices does it run on?
💡
Yes. AtomStack Studio is a free laser engraving/cutting software provided by AtomStack. It is available on multiple platforms – you can install it on Windows PCs, Mac OS computers, and even use it on mobile devices (iOS/Android). In other words, it's cross-platform, allowing you to design on a desktop and make quick adjustments on a phone or tablet as needed.
What file formats does AtomStack Studio support for designs?
💡
AtomStack Studio works with all common laser design file formats. It can import vector drawings (like DXF or SVG files) and images (JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF, etc.). Essentially, if your design software can save the file as one of those formats, AtomStack Studio can process it. This means you can create your artwork in programs like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, AutoCAD, Inkscape, etc., then load it into AtomStack Studio for laser cutting/engraving.
Does AtomStack Studio include any built-in templates or material settings?
💡
Yes. AtomStack Studio comes with an integrated project template library – it includes themed templates and a growing collection of vector graphics you can use or customize for your projects. It also provides material preset settings for over 50 common materials (wood, acrylic, leather, etc.), so you can quickly apply recommended power/speed settings with one click. You can modify these or add your own presets as needed, which takes a lot of guesswork out of tuning laser settings.
Does AtomStack Studio support camera positioning or remote monitoring?
💡
For newer AtomStack machines that have camera hardware (e.g. the AtomStack models with an accessory camera), the software does support camera-assisted alignment. This lets you preview your work area and precisely place the design on the material via the live camera feed, ensuring accurate positioning. Additionally, AtomStack Studio has a mobile app component that enables remote monitoring – you can watch the job status from your phone and get instant alerts if something pauses or goes wrong. This gives you peace of mind to step away and be notified of any issues during a long engraving job.
Can I use other software like LightBurn or LaserGRBL with AtomStack lasers, or am I stuck with AtomStack Studio?
💡
You are not locked into using only AtomStack Studio. AtomStack diode lasers use a standard controller (GRBL-based), so they are compatible with other popular laser software like LightBurn or LaserGRBL as well. In fact, AtomStack themselves advertise that their machines can be controlled via LightBurn or other programs in addition to their own app. AtomStack Studio is provided as a free, user-friendly option, but many makers choose LightBurn for its advanced features and cross-platform support. All AtomStack machines work with LightBurn out of the box.
