Customer ratings

Powerful for its size, excellent for woodwork

Cut through 8 mm plywood in one pass at 80% power. Air assist is well-tuned out of the box and engraving speed is noticeably faster than smaller desktop CO₂s.

Assembly simple, calibration takes patience

Came mostly pre-assembled, just had to align mirrors 2 and 3. Took about 40 minutes. Once aligned, beam quality is even across the bed.

Great upgrade from diode models

Moved from an xTool D1 Pro 20 W to the Hurricane. It’s night and day on acrylic and leather. Raster engraving is also much smoother thanks to CO₂ optics.

Software integration could be cleaner

LightBurn works fine, but Atomstack Studio still feels beta. Had to update firmware before connecting over USB reliably.

Riley K.3/52025-09-06
Safety and cooling well designed

Enclosed chassis and built-in chiller make it suitable for home studios. Noise level low, fumes minimal with external vent.

Support answers but slowly

Had a controller board issue, replacement arrived after 10 days. Communication was polite but slow — buy via Amazon for easier returns.

Good CO₂ entry option if you can tinker

Price-performance is strong. Expect to tweak mirror alignment occasionally and manage water coolant level manually. Once dialed in, results rival pricier OmTechs.

FAQ

What type of laser is in the Atomstack Hurricane?
💡
A 55W CO2 glass tube (≈10.6 μm). It’s far-infrared, so it cuts/engraves woods, leathers, paper, rubbers, glass, and all colors of acrylic—including clear.
How big is the work area and Z-height?
💡
Standard bed is 500 × 300 mm. Max workpiece height is ~69 mm with the tray, ~90 mm without, and up to ~190 mm with the H3 riser base.
How fast and accurate is it?
💡
Advertised max engraving speed is 600 mm/s with ~0.05 mm positioning accuracy. Real job speeds depend on material, focus, optics cleanliness, and air assist.
Does it have autofocus and a camera?
💡
Yes. A mechanical probe handles autofocus (Z). A built-in 5 MP overhead camera provides full-bed previews for layout, but thick materials may require red-dot boundary checks for precise placement.
Which software is supported?
💡
LightBurn (recommended for advanced control) and Atomstack Studio for desktop/mobile. You can connect via USB or 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
What safety features are included?
💡
Fully enclosed Class 1 design with lid-open interlock, tilt detection, emergency stop, key lock, flame detection, and an automatic water-based fire extinguisher.
Which accessories expand capability?
💡
R7 Conveyor Feeder (extends Y to ~800 mm), H3 Riser Base (taller items/rotary clearance), rotary tools for cylindrical objects, and D4 Air Purifier. Note: users report mixed results with conveyor integration and sensitive flame alarm—plan to test and tune.
