I chose the 3.5W model because of the Class 1 enclosure. I can use it in my studio without goggles. It’s slower, but perfect for engraving tags and logos.
It engraves wood and leather nicely, but struggles with anything thicker than 2 mm. Definitely more of an engraver than a cutter.
I’m new to lasers and this was plug-and-play. Quiet, no smoke leakage, and works with LightBurn. Just wish the bed size was larger.
I use it for leather tags and bamboo coasters. Very sharp detail, but cutting acrylic is not really possible without many passes.
The lid safety and tilt detection are great. However, at 3.5W you need patience for cutting jobs. Still worth it for hobby engraving.

The Mecpow M1 3.5W is best suited for precision engraving on organic and coated materials where safety and desk space matter more than power. Its fully enclosed Class 1 chassis makes it one of the safest beginner units, but its cutting performance is limited. We recommend it for users focused on fine engraving and portability, not for those needing structural cutting or large-format projects.
